Liverpool vs Crystal Palace LIVE

Liverpool will finally lift the Premier League trophy this afternoon after hosting FA Cup holders Crystal Palace.

They had the title sewn up four long weeks ago after romping to a 5-1 win over Tottenham at Anfield, but the title celebrations will be reignited today as Arne Slot finally ends the wait to get his hands on a piece of silverware.

The match will be a preview of next season’s Community Shield, as Crystal Palace beat Manchester City at Wembley last week to clinch a first major honour in club history.

The Eagles continued their winning form with a dramatic 4-2 victory at Molineux in midweek, and will hope to cap a memorable season with one last triumph.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to make his final Liverpool appearance today after announcing that he would leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season, with reports hinting he is set to join Real Madrid.

Now 32, Mo Salah is in the midst of a historic season, with 28 goals and 18 assists to his name in the Premier League, and was this week named Player of the Year, to nobody’s surprise.

With 36 total goal contributions, he has already set the record for the most productive attacking 38-match campaign, but with two more goals or assists today, he could break the all-time record for the most goal contributions in a season.

Alan Shearer and Andy Cole set that record at 47 in 42-match campaigns.

13 minutes agoWhat is on the line today?

Plenty of clubs are facing nervous waits today, to find out whether or not they will qualify for the all-important Champions League next season.

At Anfield, though, there will be no stress.

Liverpool’s title is long since confirmed, as is their return to the Champions League, while Crystal Palace are also qualified for the Europa League after winning the FA Cup.

While there will be plenty of table reshuffling around the grounds as goals start to fly in, there will be no nerves at Anfield.

Today is a celebration of the title, the game, a historic season.

21 minutes agoLiverpool's form

Since clinching the Premier League title, the Reds have been on the beach.

They are winless since beating Tottenham in late April, recording a draw at home to Arsenal and losing to both Chelsea and Brighton.

They will hope to reverse that run today as they look to end the campaign on a high.

30 minutes agoOff the pitch...

Liverpool have intensified their pursuit of attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz this week as they look to strengthen Arne Slot’s side ahead of next year’s title defence.

They are reported to have made first contact with Bayer Leverkusen this week as they look to expedite the deal.

Wirtz has reportedly informed Bayern Munich, who had also been interested in his signature, that he would sooner join the Reds.
