Liverpool vs Everton LIVE!
The Merseyside derby kicks off the latest busy weekend of Premier League action this lunchtime as Liverpool and Everton go head to head for the 247th time at a rainy Anfield.
Arne Slot has left both Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz on the bench after making four changes to the team that beat Atletico Madrid 3-2 in their dramatic Champions League opener in midweek.
Hugo Ekitike leads the attack and Alexis Mac Allister, Conor Bradley and Milos Kerkez all return as Jeremie Frimpong and Andy Robertson also make way.
Late goals and defensive lapses have been a recurring theme of Liverpool’s campaign so far and David Moyes is hoping his Everton side can take advantage of those vulnerabilities as they seek only a second win in their last 29 short trips across Stanley Park.
The Toffees and Moyes both have a dismal record at Anfield, though have generally impressed so far this term with Premier League player of the month for August Jack Grealish leading the way.

David Moyes has confirmed ahead of the derby that Vitalii Mykolenko is still not fully fit, so it will be a case of how long he is able to manage this afternoon.
He also revealed that Merlin Rohl picked up a knock in training yesterday, hence his omission from the Everton squad at Anfield.
The German midfielder made his debut off the bench against Aston Villa last weekend after joining on a season-long loan from Bundesliga side Freiburg on Deadline Day that includes an obligation to buy next summer for £17.3m.

David Moyes makes just one change to the Everton team that drew 0-0 at home to Aston Villa in the Premier League last weekend.
Vitalii Mykolenko is passed fit after injury and starts in a boost at left-back, with James Garner shifted back to his natural home in midfield as Tim Iroegbunam drops to the bench.
Midfielder Merlin Rohl, on loan from Freiburg, is out of the squad entirely.
A first Merseyside derby appearance for Jack Grealish.
No Jarrad Branthwaite still, so Michael Keane continues alongside James Tarkowski at centre-back.

So the headline team news for Liverpool is their most-expensive summer signings Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz both being named on the bench.
Hugo Ekitike leads the attack as expected, with Dominik Szoboszlai pushed forward as a rested Alexis Mac Allister returns to partner Ryan Gravenberch in midfield.
Conor Bradley replaces Jeremie Frimpong at right-back, while Andy Robertson makes way for Milos Kerkez on the left.

1 hour agoMoyes: Liverpool have earned the right to spend big
Liverpool lavished around £450m on new signings during an incredible summer window, including potentially breaking the British transfer record twice in quick succession with the headline captures of the £116m Florian Wirtz and £125m Alexander Isak.
David Moyes said yesterday that the Reds had earned the right to spend those sorts of eye-watering sums given their success - though pointed out that they had invested more in one single player than Everton had in their entire squad.
"You have to earn the right to (spend money).
First of all you have to win and be in the big competitions which make the money," said Moyes.
"I found at West Ham three years in Europe allowed us to spend money and bring money in.
"From that point of view I think Liverpool are entitled to do it.
I heard Arne defending himself saying he's brought in a lot of money as well.
"But I still think they've spent more on one player than we have on the whole squad."

1 hour agoSlot could consider Isak and Ekitike partnership
It should be a case of either Alexander Isak or Hugo Ekitike up front for Liverpool today, with the latter seeming likely to get the nod after his rival started and played almost an hour against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League in midweek.
But Arne Slot was also quizzed at his pre-Everton press conference yesterday on if he would consider the possibility of pairing his two summer striker signings together this season.
“I consider, of course, because you consider many things and it depends always on how well they are doing, so if both of them are in the best form of their life you would even consider it more, playing them together,” he said.
“But it’s also clear that we have a certain structure, which has mainly been 4-3-3 [and] playing with three midfielders, but the amount of times we have, at the end phase of the game, played with two nines, that has happened quite a lot as well.
“Hugo can indeed also play from the left differently from Cody [Gakpo] or Rio [Ngumoha] and that’s the good thing about our squad, we have multiple options.
“But first of all they all have to stay fit to have these options and if some of them are not fit then we might have to use them both in a 4-4-2.
