Sky Germany have revealed the latest on the Hugo Ekitike to Liverpool story.

The Reds’ interest in the striker has been one of the trending issues in football transfers over the last few days.

9 this summer, and Ekitike features heavily in the club’s list of potential options.

The Frenchman is on the list with Alexander Isak, who is reportedly Arne Slot’s most preferred target.

However, Newcastle are posing a big threat in both transfers.

However, Eintracht Frankfurt rejected Newcastle’s formal £70m bid for the 23-year-old as they value him at £85m.

Liverpool have now formally entered the talks for Ekitike, having approached Eintracht Frankfurt for the Frenchman.

According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, the Reds are willing to exceed the amount Newcastle have bid for Ekitike.

“Understand Liverpool are willing to pay more than what Newcastle have offered for Hugo Ekitike, and Eintracht Frankfurt have been informed about it,” the journalist said.

“There is no agreement between Newcastle and Frankfurt yet, despite advanced talks between Newcastle and the Ekitike camp.”
