Luis Díaz is on the verge of completing a transfer from Liverpool to Bayern Munich in a deal worth around €75 million. Bayern have escalated their offer after an initial bid of approximately £58.5 million (€67 million) was rejected by Liverpool, who had valued Díaz at closer to €100 million. However, Díaz's desire to move to Bayern and the club's need to balance their attacking squad after losing Leroy Sané and other changes have pushed negotiations forward.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot confirmed Díaz’s omission from a recent friendly against AC Milan was due to ongoing transfer speculation. Díaz, who joined Liverpool in January 2022 for £37.5 million and has two years remaining on his contract, has reportedly made it clear he wishes to leave Anfield. Despite Liverpool’s initial stance against selling a key player this summer, Díaz's insistence has led the club to consider Bayern’s improved offer seriously.
Bayern's squad has been reshaped after losing key players, including Thomas Müller and Leroy Sané, and suffering injuries such as to Jamal Musiala, making the acquisition of Díaz a priority to bolster their attack. Liverpool, meanwhile, have spent heavily this summer on new players like Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez, and selling Díaz would help recoup some of that expenditure.
Other clubs, including Barcelona and Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr, have also expressed interest in Díaz, but Bayern appear closest to securing his signature. Discussions are currently in advanced stages, with final details on the transfer package being negotiated between the two clubs.
