Liverpool have no plans to chase other central defenders this summer if they fail to secure Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi.

The England international has been a key target for the Reds throughout the transfer window.

Arne Slot's team have strengthened their attacking line-up, signing Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz and are still in pursuit of Alexander Isak.

In defence, they have added full-backs Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez, yet former Chelsea defender Guehi remains on Liverpool's radar with his contract situation at Palace making him available for less than his actual market value.

Due to having less than one year left on his contract, he could be available on a free transfer next summer, although Liverpool may not want to wait.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the 2025/26 season, saving members £192 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.

Sky will show at least 215 live Premier League games this season, an increase of up to 100 more.

If Liverpool can't secure Guehi, they're likely to refrain from adding any more central defenders to their squad.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool doesn't have a 'Plan B' if they fail to bring Guehi to Anfield.

The Reds have a track record of not settling for an alternative option if they are convinced their main target can transform the team, as was the case when they signed Virgil van Dijk in January 2018, after failing to lure him away from Southampton the previous summer - it seems to be a similar situation with Guehi.

The Liverpool hierarchy has pinpointed this summer as the ideal window to secure the England centre-back, with his contractual circumstances providing the Reds with negotiating power to drive down Palace's asking price.

Last summer, the Eagles turned down a Newcastle United offer that was north of £70m, according to Chronicle Live.

Nevertheless, with Van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez, and Giovanni Leoni - a recent £26m signing from Parma - at their disposal, Liverpool will not pursue another centre-half if they cannot strike a deal for Guehi.

This remains the Merseysiders' stance, despite Gomez's injury history and the uncertain future of Konate, whose Anfield deal runs out next summer.

Yeah, there's a reason why we paid the transfer fee we did, because we see him as a bright prospect."
