Liverpool’s first game since the death of Diogo Jota will be televised.

The Premier League champions planned to kick off pre-season preparations with a friendly against Preston on July 13 prior to Jota’s untimely passing.

Jota and his brother Andre Silva were killed when their Lamborghini off-roaded on the A-52 motorway in Zamora, Spain due to a tyre blowout.

A final decision on whether the Reds will fulfil the Deepdale fixture is yet to be taken with players and staff set to be consulted over it will still go ahead.

Arne Slot’s side will begin their new season preparations on Tuesday after postponing last Friday’s start following the Portugal international’s death.

Should the club proceed with their opening friendly against the Championship outfit, ITV 1 are confirmed to broadcast the game live to a UK audience.

The move, which will see ex-Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock provide co-commentary, is believed to have been agreed before last week’s tragic news.
