Less than one month on from lifting the Premier League trophy, Liverpool’s route to consecutive title wins became clearer this week.

The Reds are aiming to secure back-to-back championships for the first time since 1984, and with the 2025/26 fixtures now announced, they know what they must do to achieve that.

While the start of the Premier League season is still almost two months away, Arne Slot can begin his preparations for the August 15th kick-off against Bournemouth.

From there, Liverpool obviously play every team twice, just as they always do.

However, as ever, certain matches jump off the page as potentially key dates in the season.

Given their status as Liverpool’s closest challengers last term, games against Arsenal are always likely to be big ones in deciding where the Premier League trophy ends up.

And while that is no different in 2025/26, the timing of Liverpool’s trip to the Emirates Stadium is likely to be especially significant.

Although plenty of over-analysis has already been performed around Liverpool’s fixture list for the new campaign, it is always hard to predict how things will pan out.

What can be said with virtual certainty this time, though, is that Liverpool will be missing Mohamed Salah when they visit the Emirates in the New Year.

MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES

Salah is set to miss a chunk of next season while away with Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations in December and January.

With Liverpool scheduled to play six Premier League fixtures during this time, it is likely to be an absolutely crucial stage of the campaign.

And perhaps most importantly, Salah’s time with Egypt will coincide with Liverpool’s trip to face Arsenal in north London on January 7th.

Liverpool have not won away against the Gunners in the Premier League since 2022 and a positive result at a crucial time of next season would go some way to helping them retain their title.

But with Salah away, it could be down to new signing Jeremie Frimpong to step up and deliver.

Liverpool are no strangers to coping without Salah.

The 33-year-old has regularly been away with his country over the past eight years.

The Reds have often coped just fine.

With AFCON arriving slightly earlier this time, however, they are liable to lose Salah for more matches.

Away at the Emirates is one of Liverpool’s key fixtures, and to be without their No.

But with Frimpong now in situ, he is likely to step in for Salah.

Ronald Koeman has been using Frimpong as a right winger for the Netherlands and although he will also spend time at right-back for Liverpool, he will surely feature further up the pitch as well.

In previous years the Reds have relied on shifting players out of position to help make up for Salah’s absence.

This time, though, with such a big game already on the distant horizon, Frimpong can help ensure Liverpool do not miss a beat.
