Caoimhin Kelleher has become the first Liverpool player to follow Trent Alexander-Arnold out of the exit door this summer, although it seems the Irishman has retained a much better relationship with the Reds than his former teammate.

Kelleher's exit was confirmed on Tuesday, with the Republic of Ireland international completing a move to Brentford.

Although Kelleher has made no secret of his desire to leave Liverpool in the past given his ambitions to become a first-choice goalkeeper, and he admitted the decision to exit this summer was 'not very difficult', the 26-year-old still seems to have left Anfield on much better terms than Alexander-Arnold.

The right-back was of course booed by supporters in his first game after announcing his decision to leave last month, and even though he was afforded a more positive reception in his final outing, it's clear fans are still not happy with the manner in which he has left for Madrid.

And it appears Liverpool itself isn't all that pleased with its former vice-captain either, judging by the farewell messages sent to Kelleher and Alexander-Arnold.

Kelleher's departure was announced on Tuesday with a lengthy statement from the club, as well as a special feature looking back on the Irishman's best moments from his time at Anfield.

"Everyone at Liverpool FC thanks Caoimhin for his contribution to the club’s recent success and wishes him the best of luck for the future," the club signed off its message to the goalkeeper.

Compare that to the way in which Alexander-Arnold's exit for Madrid was announced, and it seems it might not just be the fans that have been left a little sore by his departure.

The statement confirming his exit was much shorter in comparison to Kelleher's, and even the parting message conveyed a lukewarm, at best, sentiment: "Alexander-Arnold leaves Liverpool FC with the club appreciative and grateful for his contribution to those successes."
