Liverpool have made Borussia Monchengladbach star Florian Neuhaus their top target to replace Georginio Wijnaldum this summer.

The Dutchman will see his contract expire at the end of the season and the Reds have failed to reach an agreement with him over a renewal.

Liverpool transfer target Neuhaus has opened up over the speculation surrounding his future.

The midfielder has been reported to be the top replacement choice of Jurgen Klopp's should Wijnaldum leave at the end of the season.

With Wijnaldum such a key player at Anfield, a suitable replacement is necessary and Neuhaus ticks all the boxes.

The 23-year-old would not come cheap and has been reported to cost as much as £35m. In today's market, that could prove tough for Liverpool to conjure up - but after a summer without spending, a splurge could be its way on Merseyside.

"I have a contract until 2024 and I have very big goals for this season," Neuhaus told Kicker.
