Liverpool will finish their pre-season tour of Asia with a game in Japan before flying back home.

The Reds are back in action and will be looking to make amends after their 4-2 defeat to AC Milan when they take on Yokohama F.

Marinos on Wednesday, 30th July.

This is their last game before they fly home to continue their preparations for the new season, suggesting Arne Slot might go a little stronger with his selection.

He certainly has some big choices to make, most notably whether to give new signing Hugo Ekitike his debut from the start or not, so here is the XI we think he’ll send out.

Almost everyone will get minutes during this game but predicting who will start is usually quite hard, but the goalkeeper could be easier to choose than the rest.

With Alisson Becker travelling home early due to personal reasons, it is very likely that new-ish arrival Giorgi Mamardashvili will start between the sticks.

As mentioned, Slot may go a little stronger with his selection to try and work out his best XI, suggesting both the new full-back, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong, will start.

Captain Virgil van Dijk is one of the obvious choices, and so too is his usual centre-back partner Ibrahima Konate due to the Reds’ lack of options, as well as the Frenchman’s love for Japanese culture.

MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES

Liverpool’s midfield is one of the trickier ones to predict due to the number of players Slot has at his disposal, but the location of the game may be a telling factor.

With it being held in Japan, surely Wataru Endo gets the nod to start in his home country, something he deserves after how much of a team player he really is.

Next to him could be Dominik Szoboszlai as Ryan Gravenberch played more minutes than anyone against AC Milan suggesting he could get a bit of a rest.

The Hungarian is also more likely to play from the off over Alexis Mac Allister as the Argentine has only just returned back to full training with the team.

In front of them will probably be Florian Wirtz after he impressed on his debut against Milan, as well as the commercial element of pre-season being just as important, if not more, than the performances themselves.

With Ekitike now settled in and taking part in training, Slot will have a big decision to make regarding whether he should start him or not.

However, due to the very few training sessions he has had, combined with this being one of Darwin Nunez’s last chances to put himself in the shop window, we think he will opt for the Uruguayan instead.

With Luis Diaz in Munich now too, Liverpool will have to see what life is like with Cody Gakpo at left wing, although he might not start due to how good 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha has been.

The ‘explosive’ teen has been a breath of fresh air this summer and he will get plenty more chances to prove himself, with this game one of them.

As for the right-hand side, there is only one man for the job, isn’t there?
