Liverpool remain confident they can cope with a growing midfield injury crisis and are unlikely to move for Sporting Lisbon's Matheus Nunes, despite fresh speculation linking him with a move to Merseyside.

With Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain already on the sidelines, Klopp could ill-afford another injury setback but a hamstring injury suffered by Thiago could rule him out for the next six weeks.

Klopp is reluctant to bolster his midfield, according to The Times, although A Bolo claim Liverpool are preparing a bid for Nunes, whose contract is said to include a £51million release clause.

'We said we don't need a midfielder because we have enough - and we actually have enough.

'Look, a transfer must make sense now and in the long-term; we have midfielders, we have still enough midfielders.
