With 73 minutes on the clock, Liverpool thought they had taken a significant step towards beating Everton when Salah’s right-foot strike hit the back of the Toffees’ net.
The Egyptian superstar did exceptionally well to control the ball and direct it towards the Everton goal, however, Ally McCoist was just as impressed with the work of Curtis Jones.

Commentating on the match for TNT Sports, McCoist stated: ‘Curtis Jones is really sharp on the goal.
Salah is incredible really, either foot, but you talk about Curtis Jones or any player being on their toes, look at that, O’Brien’s on his heels, Curtis Jones isn’t, bang!
‘That’s what happens.
Despite this, Jones would ruin his display from the bench against Everton as an incident after the full-time whistle would see the midfielder pick up a silly red card.
After the full-time whistle, Jones received a second yellow card alongside Abdoulaye Doucoure after the Liverpool star confronted the Everton midfielder for celebrating in front of fans of the Reds.
It was a moment Slot needed Jones to keep a cool head but the English talent will now miss Liverpool’s next match with Wolves on Sunday as a result of the red card.
This will be a big blow for the Reds boss as the midfielder’s role in Salah’s goal was the second Premier League match in a row Jones has had an impact for Liverpool off of the bench.
