Kobbie Mainoo’s arrival at Everton before the transfer deadline does not appear completely out of the question.

Football Insider understands that Mainoo is being pushed out of Man United, though Ruben Amorim wants the young midfielder to fight for his spot at Old Trafford rather than leave on loan.

Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are both interested in the academy product, who has slipped down the pecking order behind Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes over the last few months.

Rumours have started to circulate that David Moyes could help to save the 20-year-old’s 2025/26 campaign, bringing Mainoo on loan to the Hill Dickinson Stadium ahead of 1 September.

He has made 73 first-team appearances since graduating from the club’s academy, never once leaving the club on loan, but Alan Myers, a reliable source on Everton transfers, has shared his view on a potential deal.

Responding to a fan’s question about rumours of Mainoo joining the Toffees, Myers wrote: “I’m sure we’d have looked at it,” to which the fan asked if that meant it was a matter that has now passed.

Myers finished by saying, “No, just looked at it.

I think that one looks as if something may happen, not necessarily with us, but somewhere, so who knows.”

Supporters have been treated to exciting deals for Jack Grealish and Tyler Dibling, who made his Everton debut against Mansfield Town during the week.

Carlos Alcaraz, Thierno Barry, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and Adam Aznou have added some much-needed depth to the squad as well, which could be key for the campaign ahead.

The Toffees opened their season with a frustrating defeat to Leeds United, but that was quickly forgotten about during a historical win over Brighton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Of course, there are still weaknesses in the squad, with Moyes expected to address Tim Iroegbunam’s disciplinary concerns, though he would likely make way if Mainoo were to join.

The 20-year-old already has plenty of experience in the Premier League and on the European stage, leaving Moyes with a rather simple choice if he is to leave Man United this summer.

Supporters will be expecting a couple more deals to go through before the transfer window slams shut, but as of right now, it has been a successful summer for the Toffees.
