Ex-Manchester United and Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal has delivered a damning verdict on his former club’s transfer strategy.
Liverpool, by contrast, surged to the title in their first season under new head coach Arne Slot.
The Reds are also showing no signs of slowing down, with early moves in the transfer market pointing to major deals for the likes of Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez.

That said, United are also acting quickly in the market, having already completed a deal to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves.
He won the FA Cup during his time at the club but was dismissed just two years into his tenure.
The 73-year-old has now criticised United’s approach to transfers, insisting the manager should be at the heart of every decision, as the responsibility for the team ultimately rests with him.

He also drew comparisons with Liverpool’s model, urging his former club to take note of how their rivals conduct their business.
"It is still a commercial club, not a football club," the Dutchman said in an interview with Sky Sports.
"It's always difficult when the manager is not deciding which players have to come.
"I think it's the way it should be [that the manager picks the players], then you can fire a manager if he doesn't produce any results.
But when other people buy the players, then you have a problem.
"You need to have the knowledge of the manager because he has to train them.
Pay attention to it."
It’s worth noting that Liverpool have an extensive data department, and the appointment of Slot as head coach - rather than manager - suggests he doesn’t wield the same level of influence or authority that Jurgen Klopp once did.
That said, his involvement remains evident, with the pursuits of players like Wirtz and Kerkez appearing to align closely with his tactical vision for the team next season.
