Liverpool have done their job having beaten Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon, putting the pressure on both Manchester City and Arsenal this afternoon.
This Sunday was billed as being a crucial day in the Premier League title race.
All eyes are on the Etihad Stadium with Manchester City hosting Arsenal in an enormous encounter between Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta.
Liverpool have also been in action, hosting Brighton and Hove Albion at Anfield as they looked to secure three points and put pressure on Arsenal and City.
That didn’t exactly got to plan early on though as as Danny Welbeck produced a stunning finish to put Brighton ahead.
Luis Diaz dragged Liverpool level in a frantic first half before Alexis Mac Allister picked out Mohamed Salah to slot Liverpool in front.
There were a few scares along the way but Liverpool got the job done, securing a 2-1 victory to go top of the Premier League table – for now at least.
Liverpool had to get their own job done before watching the action from Manchester; they did just that and will be relieved to have escaped from a potential banana skin.

The key man for Liverpool wasn’t Salah, despite his composed finish for the winner.
In fact, the Egyptian was pretty wasteful for large spells of the game and couldn’t afford to miss the chance created for him.
Mac Allister was the main man, producing an exceptional performance in the middle of midfield.
The Argentinian was playing against his former club just months after Liverpool struck a £35million deal to land him from Brighton.
Mac Allister was brilliant on the ball throughout and he received major praise from Jamie Carragher for his first-half performance at Anfield.
Mac Allister then popped up with the assist for Salah, perfectly weighing a pass into Salah to find the net.
Five key passes, one interception, three clearances, one blocked shot, 58 accurate passes – Mac Allister was influential throughout.
Even former Manchester United captain Roy Keane was impressed with Mac Allister’s performance.
Keane told Sky Sports (31/03, 15:55) that Mac Allister’s assist for the Salah goal was simply ‘brilliant’.
The Irishman added that Mac Allister is so ‘smart’ and his decision making left him ‘hugely impressed’.
Keane added that Salah’s goal was ‘sexy football’ and that he loves watching play like that with Mac Allister dazzling him.
“Brilliant, a brilliant pass,” said Keane.
“Mac Allister, he is a smart footballer, I’ll tell you, I’m hugely impressed with him and his decision making.
Brilliant first touch from Salah, beautiful, sexy football to me this, love watching that,” he added.
This was one of Mac Allister’s finest displays in a Liverpool shirt and it just had to come against Brighton.
The Seagulls will be ruing Mac Allister’s performance less than a year since leaving the South Coast, but Liverpool will be delighted that his moment of quality secured all three points ahead of City’s clash with Arsenal.
