West Ham star Lucas Paqueta could be in line for a huge payout after his legal battle with the FA has taken a new twist.
It was confirmed in July Paqueta has been cleared of the spot-fixing charges after an independent regulatory commission found them to be “not proven” following a hearing between March and May this year.
The FA announced on Wednesday (3 September) it will not be appealing the verdict after the written reasons for the commission’s decision have been published.

Finance expert Dan Plumley told Football Insider Paqueta would be able to sue the FA after being cleared of his spot-fixing charges.
That could now turn out to be the case after The Times reported on Wednesday Paqueta and West Ham are considering legal action against the FA for damages over his collapsed move to Manchester City.
Paqueta was close to joining Man City for £80million in the summer of 2023, but the move collapsed after news emerged of the FA’s investigation.
A decision will now also be made over whether the FA will cover the midfielder’s legal fees, which are believed to be in excess of £1million.
