Luis Díaz has completed a permanent transfer from Liverpool to Bayern Munich after three and a half years with the Premier League club. The Colombian winger played a vital role in Liverpool’s success during his time at Anfield, contributing to the club’s lift of four major trophies, including the Premier League title in the 2024-25 season.
Díaz joined Liverpool from FC Porto in early 2022 and immediately made an impact with his pace, trickery, and goal contributions from various attacking roles. In his first half-season, he scored six goals and provided four assists in 26 appearances, playing a key part in Liverpool reaching the finals of major domestic cups. He started in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup finals, both won on penalties against Chelsea, and was part of the squad that finished runners-up in the Premier League and lost the 2022 Champions League final to Real Madrid.
His momentum was interrupted by a serious knee injury early in the following season, restricting him to only 21 appearances for the 2022-23 campaign. Despite this setback, Díaz remained an important figure for Liverpool until his departure.
On social media and in farewell messages, Díaz expressed gratitude and pride for his time at Liverpool, reflecting on the memories and accomplishments. The move to Bayern Munich represents a new challenge for him, with ambitions to win “every title possible” at the German club.
Liverpool thanked Díaz for his contributions and wished him well in his future career as he embarks on this next chapter in the Bundesliga.
