Luis Diaz finds himself at the center of a summer tug-of-war, with both FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich vying for his signature.
While Diaz remains under contract at Anfield until 2027, the Colombian’s camp (particularly his father) has not hidden his long-standing hope of his son one day donning the Blaugrana colors.
Barcelona’s pursuit of Diaz intensified after their protracted chase for Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams ended.
The Spanish international penned a 10-year deal at Athletic Bilbao.
Though Williams was Barca’s ideal long-term project, his complications have reopened the door for the Liverpool N0.7.
Fabrizio Romano has already reported this week that Barcelona is planning a renewed approach for the 28-year-old.
They hope to soften Liverpool’s stance on the winger having already been rebuffed in June.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich have accelerated their efforts following Leroy Sane’s departure and Jamal Musiala’s injury setback.
German outlet BILD reports a verbal agreement on personal terms between Diaz and Bayern, with the winger assuring the Bavarian giants of his willingness to relocate to the Bundesliga.
As one can tell, there is quite a bit of noise around the Colombian international as we head further into July.
Diaz made his way to England this week to kick off pre-season with the Premier League champions.
During this period, Colombian influencer Mauricio Gómez, widely known as La Liendra, questioned the forward about his future.
Marca has since shared the comments made by the player.
When the Colombian influencer questioned Diaz about the latest speculation linking him with a move away from Anfield, Diaz replied:
“We’re there, negotiating.
We’ll try to do our best and make the best decision.”
He added:
“We’re in the process of negotiations, talking with the club, with Liverpool, with everyone who’s approaching us.”
“But I’m very calm where I am, you know, very happy?
Trying to make the best decision, now,” Diaz said.
All eyes will be on Liverpool’s boardroom deliberations and how quickly Barcelona or Bayern can navigate their own challenges to table a bid that meets Liverpool’s valuation.
It’s believed the Anfield club want in the region of €85 million for Diaz.
