Luis Diaz and his future at Liverpool is muddied as we tick into the middle of July and typically the prime slice of the summer transfer window.
The 28-year-old’s situation at Anfield has become increasingly precarious, not because of his performances – he scored 17 goals and provided eight assists last season, making him Liverpool’s third-highest scorer – but because of what’s happening behind the scenes.
Despite having two years remaining on his current deal, Liverpool have shown little urgency in opening contract renewal discussions.
Paul Joyce has confirmed that the club is not in a hurry to offer the Colombian a new deal.
Barcelona’s interest is well-advertised at this point having already made an offer last month that the Reds hierarchy swiftly rebuffed.
Dani Olmo has already spoken in glowing terms of the winger, referring to Diaz as “world-class”.
But it seems another player in the Diaz situation is laying the foundations for a potential deal.
German outlet BILD has reported that the 28-year-old has already agreed a deal with the Bavarian giants, with Christian Falk writing:
“Bayern is not only still in talks with Liverpool star Luiz Diaz (28), the Colombian is now said to have already assured the Munich team of his willingness to move!”
“Diaz is now FC Bayern’s new top candidate for the wing position after the failed efforts to sign Nico Williams (22), who extended his contract with Athletic Bilbao until 2035, and Bradley Barcola (22), whom his club Paris Saint-Germain declared unsellable.”
