It is increasingly looking like Luis Diaz will leave Liverpool this summer.
The Colombian winger is reportedly open to leaving Liverpool this summer, as interest in the 27-year-old intensifies across Europe.
Despite being a key figure in the Reds’ attack since his arrival from FC Porto in 2022, Diaz looks discontent at Anfield.
He is said to be considering a move in pursuit of a new challenge and improved personal terms.
With 17 goals and eight assists in 50 appearances last season, the 28-year-old has proven his quality at the highest level.
However, it is thought that his weekly wages—estimated at £55,000—are significantly lower than those of other top players in Europe, prompting discussions within his camp about a potential transfer as both a sporting and financial opportunity.
A recent report from Spain corroborated this position, revealing the reason for his desire to leave Liverpool as financial.
Liverpool on their part are keen to keep Diaz.
They have already rejected bids from Bayern Munich and Barcelona for the winger.
Bayern submitted an initial offer of €67.5 million, but Liverpool are said to be holding out for close to €100m for the Colombian.
In all this Diaz has publicly expressed contentment at Anfield.
However, sources indicate he would be willing to listen to offers that align with his ambitions.
According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the attacker is really keen on leaving Liverpool.
Speaking to DAZN about the player’s future, Romano said:
“I can tell you that Bayern are going strong on this one.
The last one €67m was sent last week and it was rejected by Liverpool.
“But what I can add to this is that the player really wants to go.
Luis Diaz wants to try something different, he wants a new chapter on his career.
“And so keep an eye on Bayern because I think they will return very soon to the table with a new proposal trying to tempt Liverpool to sell Diaz.
Two year left on his contract, but Bayern will go very strong on this.”
The journalist also confirmed that Barcelona remain interested in the player and up until last week were trying to secure his services.
“I can also tell you that Barcelona last week, tried until the very end entering the race for Luis Diaz, but they were offering something around €60m and this was never going to be enough for Liverpool.”
