Former Colombian Sstar Faustino Asprilla has suggested that Luis Diaz should consider leaving Liverpool in the transfer window.

With two years remaining on his current deal, Diaz's potential departure continues to be a hot topic of discussion.

Liverpool has recently turned down a $79 million (£58.6m) bid from Bayern Munich for the winger, an offer that comes after earlier interest from both the Bundesliga giants and Barcelona had been rebuffed.

Yet the expectation stands that Bayern may come back with an improved offer, in spite of Liverpool’s firm stance on wanting Diaz to fulfil the rest of his contract.

According to the Athletic, Diaz has expressed a desire to part ways with Liverpool before the end of this season.

Speaking candidly, the 28-year-old acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding his career, yet he also affirmed during public appearances that he is content at Liverpool.

Additional clarity came while he was on national team duty last month; not only did he disclose that discussions with other clubs were taking place, but he also noted that the control over these negotiations lay with Liverpool.

Diaz stated, "We are currently in contact with Liverpool, because we are talking to clubs, and that's normal given the transfer market that's opening.

I'm waiting to see what happens.

"I'm very happy at Liverpool, I've always said so.

Liverpool rejected an offer for Luis Diaz

While Diaz has expressed contentment and openness to a new deal at Liverpool, the club appears to be in no rush regarding his contract situation, with no indications of an imminent offer for improved terms.

Despite this, Newcastle United legend and fellow Colombian Faustino Asprilla has advised Diaz to consider leaving Liverpool in search of a more lucrative opportunity.

"If it were happening to me, I'd leave," Asprilla stated on ESPN, as reported by Mundo Deportivo
