Luis Diaz has shared his delight at joining Bayern Munich as he paid tribute to Diogo Jota when reflecting on his time at Liverpool.

The Colombian called time on his Anfield career after three and a half years to complete a move worth up to £65.5m to the Bavarian giants.

The Reds had initially insisted that the 28-year-old was not for sale, rejecting approaches from both Barcelona and Bayern - along with a first offer of £58.6m.

But with Diaz keen to move on after failing to agree a new contract with Liverpool, the Reds’ stance softened following Bayern’s second offer.

Liverpool ultimately felt the deal was simply too good to turn down, given Diaz’s age and determination to leave after two new contract offers had been turned down.

Meanwhile, the Reds also banked a £23m profit on the player, with it understood they have paid FC Porto a little over £42m since signing the forward in January 2022.

After completing his move to Bayern, Diaz shared his delight at joining one of the biggest clubs in the world as he stressed his desire to win many trophies with the Bavarians.

“I'm very happy to have signed with FC Bayern,” he told club media.

It fills me with great pride because I'm a person who comes to do his thing, who comes to give his best, to try to win many titles - that's what I want and what we want most.

“My goal is to win every possible title – we will work towards that every day as a team.”

Meanwhile, he also sent a farewell message to Liverpool supporters on social media as he reflected on his time at the club and paid tribute to team-mate Jota, who was killed in a car crash, along with his brother, Andre Silva, at the start of July.

"Three years and a half that I’ll treasure forever," he wrote on Instagram.

Liverpool is, indeed, a special team, and I will keep everyone in my heart.

Diaz made 148 appearances for Liverpool during his time with the Reds, scoring 41 goals and recording 16 assists.
