The Colombian edges nearer to a summer exit as the Bundesliga champions close in.
Luis Diaz has just come off the back of a hugely impressive season with Liverpool in which he played a key role in securing the Reds’ second Premier League title in five years.
However, it emerged just after the conclusion of this season that he was open to the idea of moving away this summer, after becoming increasingly frustrated with what he was earning at the club.
A figure has emerged that tells us Luis Diaz is currently earning around £55,000 a week, and as a result he is now searching for a better financial package.
He appears to believe that Bayern Munich can give him that.
On top of the financial side, Luis Diaz could feel that his gametime will now be limited following Liverpool’s summer arrivals.
Whilst his preferred position is left-wing, it is clear to see that when Cody Gakpo is fit, he is Arne Slot’s preferred winger on that flank.
Most of Luis Diaz’s time on the pitch last season was spent in an unnatural position for him in the No.9 role.
Bayern Munich can offer him freedom to make the left-wing position his own, after Leroy Sane’s departure.
The fee being worked upon shows that Luis Diaz will be a starter, as the most recent bid was in the region of 67.5 million euros.
Ben Jacobs has reported via his X account that a deal for Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich is nearing its conclusion.
The tweet reads: “Understand Luis Diaz is getting close to a move to Bayern and likely for under 80million euros.”
“Still some work to be done.
Diaz heading to Tokyo with the rest of the LFC team, but an agreement with Bayern is not far off.”
Talks are still ongoing between the clubs, and whilst Liverpool have been tough negotiators so far, they are aware of Luis Diaz’s desire to leave, and will look to reach a suitable conclusion before the end of the transfer window.
As stated, Luis Diaz will continue to be with the Liverpool squad until his future has been decided, despite him not featuring in any of the three pre-season games Liverpool have played so far.
