Liverpool have turned down Bayern Munich’s first official offer worth around €67.5million (£58.6m) for Luis Diaz.
Bayern are keen to sign the Colombia international, who remains a top priority for the Bundesliga champions.
The Reds’ position on Diaz remains that the 28-year-old is not for sale, and he is an important player not just for the coming season but for the remainder of his contract.
The Premier League champions have already fended off interest in Diaz, having also rebuffed an advance from Barcelona earlier in the summer
He has just two years left on his contract.
Díaz had a successful campaign last season, scoring 17 goals in all competitions and helping Arne Slot’s side to the Premier League title.
The former FC Porto forward wants to leave Liverpool this summer despite saying he is happy at the club.
He told Colombian influencer Mauricio Gomez: “We’re there, negotiating.
We’ll see what can be achieved, for us and for the club.
We’ll try to do our best and make the best decision.”
Pushed on interest from Saudi side Al-Nassr, he added: “We’re in the process of negotiations, talking with the club, with Liverpool, with everyone who’s approaching us.
Trying to make the best decision now.”
According to The Athletic, “Liverpool value Diaz at upwards of €100m, although that is said to be for accounting purposes rather than a sales position because their stance so far has been that he is going nowhere.”
Diaz has featured in 148 games for the club, netted 41 times, and provided 23 assists in all competitions.
