Luis Diaz’s wife Gera Ponce has sent an emotional message to Liverpool fans after her husband’s departure from the club was confirmed.

He scored 41 goals in 148 appearances and played crucial roles as Liverpool won the Premier League, the FA Cup and two League Cups over four seasons.

In November 2023, Diaz was supported by the club after his dad, Luis Manuel Diaz, was kidnapped by the National Liberation Army in the family's hometown of Barrancas.

They have four children together and got married last month.

In the last half an hour, minutes after Diaz’s move was confirmed, Gera thanked Liverpool fans and the club as a whole for the happy memories they made together over the last three years.

Gera shared a series of pictures on Instagram of the family at Anfield, many of which were taken after Liverpool won the Premier League last season.

In the caption, translated from Spanish, Gera said: “I don't know how to say goodbye to a place that changed our lives.

“We came as three, we left as four...

Today we say goodbye to a club that embraced us from day one, that made us feel at home, that allowed us to dream big and live moments we will cherish forever.

“We came with the excitement of playing in a historic club, and we are leaving having lived wonderful experiences: titles, magical nights at Anfield, a Premier League, emotions that cannot be put into words.

“Here we understand the true meaning of You’ll Never Walk Alone.

With infinite love and gratitude.”

You’ll always be a Red.”

On her Instagram story, Gera said thank you” to the fans and the club, adding: “They will always be in my heart.”
