It seems the word coming out of south Florida suggest that Luis Suarez will not be offered a new deal when his contract expires in December.

It will bring to a close a two-season stint that reunited him with Lionel Messi and some of his former Barcelona teammates.

Despite his status as Inter Miami’s second-highest scorer, the 38-year-old’s future has been cast into doubt amid a summer roster review.

It is believed that Miami’s hierarchy has weighed up Suárez’s hefty wage against the need to free up a coveted Designated Player slot,

It has been a mixed 2025 campaign for the former Liverpool man, marred by a run of goal-droughts, knee niggles and a sluggish team start.

Now, Spanish outlet AS has reported that, barring any late surprises, the Uruguayan will indeed bid farewell to the Orlando club in December.

Eduardo Burgos Rodríguez reports:

“According to AS, barring a surprise at the last minute, the ‘Pistolero’ will not continue in Miami next season.

His future is unknown, retirement looms on the horizon.”

“Luis Suarez’s time in Florida will come to an end in December?

The Uruguayan has a contract until the end of the year and will almost certainly not renew with the Herons.”

It is added that his next destination is unknown, but retirement is a serious possibility.

Speaking in an interview in 2023 already, Suarez revealed that his body was in pain, and in particular El Pistolero has been struggling with knee problems towards the latter stage iof his caeer:

“The one that speaks is my body and the pain I feel on a daily basis is a lot,” he said

“I have earned the right to decide, to say enough and to enjoy the place where I have to play and my children, who had few vacations in recent times and stayed with me supporting me.”

“I need to rest, enjoy the family and destiny will know where it will touch me in the future.”

“If I go to a club it’s to win, otherwise I would retire.”

He retired from the Uruguay national team last year partly due to these knee problems.
