Arne Slot’s men are sitting pretty on top of the English Premier League tree as their players set off to represent their countries this week.
With 9 points out of a possible 9, you would think that the hierarchy would be taking the time to relax and turn their minds off football for a while.
Not quite.
Even during the international break, there is still work to be done.
And today we’ve learned that a new man has officially joined the club.
Liverpool Football Club have confirmed that Luiz Fernando Iubel has joined the club.
Iubel’s arrival at Liverpool was originally reported last week, but the statement posted on the club’s website has made the news official.
According to the statement, Iubel is appointed in a new role focused on the development and transition of the club’s elite young players.
The exact title for Luiz Fernando Iubel is PDP individual development lead coach and he starts work with The Reds this week.
For those unaware of Iubel’s past credentials, he has coached at Vasco da Gama, Ceara, Bahia, Ponte Preta, Coritiba, Juventude, Atletico Mineiro and Cuiaba in Brazil, winning multiple state championships and guiding the latter to the Mato Grosso title in 2024 during a spell as interim boss.
Iubel was also a tactical analyst for Germany during their silver-medal campaign at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Liverpool have detailed what his role entails more specifically in their statement.
“At Liverpool, he [Iubel] will act as a methodological lead on individual development plans to ensure clear alignment across the club’s senior team, loan, U21 and U18 training groups,” the statement reads.
“The role will involve him working closely with Academy coaches to provide a joined-up pathway from the Kirkby set-up to loans and then into the senior team.
“That will also see him connect with the loan support team and other clubs, maintaining direct contact with players developing away from the Reds”.
It seems that Luiz Fernando Iubel will have an important role to play in the future of Liverpool Football Club and their player development plans.
