Arne Slot could be without two key players for the opening fixture of the new Premier League season.

Slot said: "The reason why that is so difficult [to retain the title] lies mainly in the fact that there’s so many competitors that can also win the league over here.

"To win it once is already very special, let alone if you can win it twice in three, four or five years, or as we did, twice in five years and [Manchester] City did even better than us in the last few years.

"So that’s unbelievable if you’re able to do this in this league.

And probably this year is going to be harder than every year before, because every team brings in new players but our main competitors definitely did as well."

So, with that being said, the Echo has rounded up all the latest Liverpool injury updates and suspension news.

Ryan Gravenberch was absent from Liverpool's defeat to Crystal Palace in the Community Shield as he became a father for the first time.

While the 23-year-old midfielder would be a welcome addition to Slot's side for the Bournemouth clash, he'll be on the sidelines after picking up two yellow cards in the final game of last season.

What Slot has said: "Unfortunately, Ryan Gravenberch was not able to play last week and is not able to play this week."

Alexis Mac Allister remains a doubt despite appearing off the bench at Wembley Stadium last weekend.

The 26-year-old midfielder suffered an injury towards the end of last season, ruling him out of action for the international break in June.

He returned to training in pre-season as planned, but Slot has been managing his workload.

Speaking to the official club website last month, Mac Allister said: "It has been a long time, a difficult time because it is never nice to be injured.

"But now I’m feeling good, it’s just about time and getting fit because they have had a good pre-season so they are definitely in a different physical shape, so I have to get used [to it] again."

The Argentine added: "It’s hard to explain [the injury] because it’s not just one spot that you say, ‘Okay, we have to focus on this’.

It’s hard to explain it, but as I said, now I’m feeling good, and for me that’s the most important thing."

What Slot has said: "Don’t forget we missed [Alexis] Mac Allister as well in the last part of last season, and he hardly was able to play in our pre-season, only now recently he has played a few games, played a few minutes."

Conor Bradley has been nursing a knock which ruled him out of Liverpool's final friendly of pre-season and the Community Shield.

The 22-year-old defender hasn't been spotted in any training photos, and Slot didn't provide an update on his situation at his pre-match press conference.

What Slot has said: "In my opinion, Jeremie [Frimpong] and Conor Bradley are similar types [of right-backs], although Jeremie is maybe better in the one-v-ones than Conor is.

"But I think Jeremie and Conor can both contribute to Mo’s output because if you play against these two, you know you have to be aware of these two as well.

"So, it normally gives Mo even more space to get the one-v-ones.

The 28-year-old defender has managed two sessions so far, but the Bournemouth clash may come too soon.

What Slot has said: "I have to make a decision, he's trained twice, he missed a lot of pre-season.
