Liverpool have already spent a lot this summer but they are prepared to go big one last time.

The Reds have had a transfer window to remember after reinforcing multiple areas of their team, with the latest being at striker after signing Hugo Ekitike.

However, despite spending £69m to bring him to Anfield, Liverpool are still keen to sign their ‘dream’ target Alexander Isak, with the Swede now also open to a move away from Newcastle.

Isak has handed in a transfer request and the Magpies now face an uphill battle to try and keep hold of him, with Liverpool prepared to make an offer for him.

As expected, multiple clubs are interested in the 25-year-old and there will be stiff competition for his signature, but the player himself has already given priority to one club in particular.

The Reds have now spent over £300m after announcing the signing of Ekitike, but all the reports have stated that they are still expecting more incomings.

No one really thought another striker would be who they bring in, however, but now Isak has shown his cards, Liverpool might just make a move.

And, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, this is even more likely to happen as Isak has given his priority to Liverpool despite them already signing a striker.

He states that the Swede has made it clear during direct talks with Al Hilal that he would prefer a move to the Reds, although he is not completely shutting down the possibility of playing in the Kingdom.

Isak had never publicly expressed his desire to leave Newcastle but now that he has done his part, the ball is in Liverpool’s court to go out and get him.

He may have only just handed in a transfer request, but Liverpool need to strike while the iron is still hot or else they risk losing out on him.

He may want a move to Anfield, but if the Reds delay, other clubs could come in and sell him a project that is simply too good to refuse.

That being said, Liverpool should make a bid as soon as possible to test Newcastle’s resolve and get ahead of the competition, with the Magpies holding out for around £150m.

Richard Hughes has good connections at Newcastle and is close friends with Eddie Howe, something that could play a small role, but this is certainly a story that could gain significant traction in the coming days.
