'Made it easier': Jeremie Frimpong explains why he's settling in so well at Liverpool already

Liverpool supporters got another glimpse of their summer signings on Saturday as they faced AC Milan in a friendly.

The result did not go the way of the Reds as Milan took advantage of some sloppy defending to win 4-2.

Nevertheless, there were still some positives to take for Arne Slot, with the performances of his new additions right towards the top of that list.

Florian Wirtz was terrific on his first outing in front of fans, while Milos Kerkez put in another decent shift at left-back, too.

With Liverpool struggling to get going in the second-half, one of the biggest shining lights was the performance of Jeremie Frimpong at right wing.

Frimpong looked like he had been playing the role for Liverpool for years already.

And speaking after the match, the Dutchman explained why he has been able to settle in so quickly after joining.

Just two official games into his pre-season career with Liverpool, we have already seen Frimpong operate in two different roles.

The 24-year-old played at right-back during the win over Preston, but was asked to play a more attacking role on Saturday, with Conor Bradley sitting behind him

In both positions, Frimpong has looked at home.

Away from the pitch, the Netherlands international also looks to have adjusted well into the Liverpool squad.

Asked by LFCTV how he is finding the process of settling in, Frimpong admitted that having some familiar faces around has helped him massively.

“We’re playing with great players, the likes of Flo [Wirtz], Milos [Kerkez], myself, we’re playing with great players so it makes it easier to play,” he said.

“I knew a few of the boys so it made it easier for me.

All the boys are great, they’re all good, we all get along so it makes it easier for all of us.”

During his short post-match interview with LFCTV, Frimpong was also asked which position he was the most comfortable in having played a couple already.

“For me anywhere I play I play the same,” the former Bayer Leverkusen defender answered.

“I’m an attacking full-back, so if I play right wing, right-back, right wing-back I play the same anyway.

Wherever the manager wants to play me, that’s where I’ll play.”

There was one moment in particular, when Frimpong plucked a long ball from Cody Gakpo out of the air at full pelt and raced towards goal, which made him look for all the world like a right winger.

But it’s for his versatility that Liverpool were so keen to sign Frimpong this summer.
