Callum Wilson shared a passionate and excited new message on social media following a major development regarding the next step in his career.

The English striker endured a difficult campaign last season, with the 33-year-old suffering multiple injuries and making just two Premier League starts throughout the year.

It was confirmed last month that Wilson would leave Newcastle United upon the expiry of his contract, bringing an end to a five-year spell on Tyneside.

Despite missing 29 matches through injury, Football Insider revealed that several Premier League clubs are closely monitoring Wilson’s situation ahead of a potential free transfer.

West Ham are believed to have made significant strides in their pursuit of the forward earlier this week, and now, the striker posted a heartfelt message on social media.

West Ham officially confirmed on 2 August that they have completed the signing of Wilson on a free transfer.

The striker shared his excitement about the move in an Instagram post, writing: he’s “buzzing to join” and that it’s “time to repay the belief with goals & hard work”.

His announcement sparked plenty of reactions from across the Premier League, with Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice both liking the post, along with Manchester City’s Jack Grealish.

Former Newcastle teammates also responded with heartfelt messages, as Bruno Guimaraes commented, “Good luck bro” while Joe Willock added, “Let’s get it brother”.

Wilson originally joined Newcastle from Bournemouth in 2020 in a £20million deal and went on to score 49 goals in 130 appearances for the Magpies.

However, his time in the North East was heavily impacted by injuries, and following the arrival of Alexander Isak in 2022, he gradually fell down the pecking order.

Despite the deal being completed, reports suggest Wilson was not a specific target for manager Graham Potter.

However, the former Chelsea boss is understood not to oppose the signing, given the forward’s appearance-based salary structure.

While the Hammers have added attacking reinforcements, they’re also pushing to strengthen defensively, particularly between the posts.

Football Insider revealed that West Ham have submitted a bid for Botafogo goalkeeper John Victor, despite strong interest from both Manchester United and Aston Villa.

Following the departure of Lukasz Fabianski earlier this summer, the club have been targeting a new goalkeeper to compete with Alphonse Areola, and it appears the 29-year-old Brazilian is now the top option.
