Everton fans are already falling in love with new loan signing Jack Grealish, following his performance against Brighton.

Grealish completed a season-long loan move from Manchester City earlier this summer, after falling out of favour at the Etihad Stadium.

In the 2024/25 campaign, the winger was only given 715 minutes of Premier League football in total by Pep Guardiola.

With the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, the former Aston Villa form is hoping to rediscover his best form to force his way back into international contention.

Grealish made his Everton debut during their 1-0 defeat to Leeds United, coming on in the 71st minute at Elland Road.

However, against Brighton the attacker was given a place in the starting lineup, as the Toffees played their first competitive game at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

In the first half, Grealish set up Illiman Ndiaye to open the scoring, clipping a cross to the back post for the Senegal international to slam home.

Then, after the break, the former City man grabbed his second assist of the day, setting up James Garner to put Everton 2-0 up.

Many felt that Grealish was wasted under Guardiola, as he was unable to take people on and create chances like he had done previously at Aston Villa.

The 29-year-old was instead forced to fit into the Man City system, which inhibited his creative abilities, meaning he struggled to perform.

After his contributions against Brighton, fans were quick to point out that away from Guardiola, Grealish now looked back to his best.

One supporter said, “Maybe Pep was the problem after all”, while a Man City fan added that “City ruined him”.
