Liverpool's Premier League title rivals Manchester City have three fresh injury worries following their Champions League quarter-final second leg tie against Real Madrid.

Last year's Treble winners were beaten 4-3 on penalties after the game finished 1-1 on the night, and 4-4 on aggregate, after Kevin De Bruyne’s 76th-minute striker cancelled out Rodrygo's first-half opener.

Erling Haaland asked to be taken off before the start of extra time, manager Pep Guardiola has since explained, with the striker surprisingly substituted for Julian Alvarez after 90 minutes.

Kevin De Bruyne and Manu Akanji also made way during the second half of extra time, with Mateo Kovacic and John Stones replacing them.

Haaland appeared to limp off the pitch and Pep Guardiola revealed post-match that all three players had indicated their need to come off.

With the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea looming, there are under three days to prepare for it, but there is hope is that these key players will recover in time to be available for that game.

"Erling and Kevin asked me to go out.

They could not continue, like Manu," Guardiola said.

"They were playing amazing and I'm not a big fan of so many substitutions but Kevin, Erling and Manu asked me to go out because they could not continue.

Of course we will see how people will react and of course the recovery is easier when winning than losing but it is the semi-final of the FA Cup and we will try to compete as much as possible."

With City playing in the FA Cup, Liverpool have the chance to heap pressure on their title rivals and can overtake them in the table with a win against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday.
