The Newcastle United striker continues to be linked with a move to Anfield, despite an initial £69 million transfer of Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt being confirmed this week.

On Thursday, reports emerged that the Swede was considering a move away from Newcastle this summer.



Amid ongoing speculation over the striker's future, Eddie Howe left him out of the Magpies' squad for last weekend's friendly against Celtic.

Before the transfer bombshell, Newcastle confirmed that Isak would miss their pre-season tour of Asia due to a minor thigh injury.

Howe addressed the speculation surrounding his star striker, explaining why Isak didn’t feature against Celtic.

"He travelled back to Glasgow with us, but I decided to send him home due to the speculation around him," the Newcastle boss said.
