Liverpool is closing in on a top-class talent in Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz, and Reds fans will hope he can move into the world-class bracket at Anfield in the years ahead.
Wirtz is expected to leave Leverkusen this summer, with Merseyside his expected destination after Liverpool edged out Bayern Munich in the race to sign the 22-year-old.
Wirtz is reported to have phoned Bayern boss Vincent Kompany to inform him of his decision to join Liverpool, and the Reds are continuing to work on a deal for the player, who will be joined at Anfield by Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong.

Wirtz is among the best young players in the world, and speaking during the season that has just finished, former Germany international Ilkay Gundogan had his say on how Wirtz could take his game to new heights.
Explaining how fellow Germans Wirtz and Jamal Musiala could become world class, Gundogan said" “[Wirtz and Musiala are] at least very close to world-class, maybe they are not yet there but they could be the best in the world.
“I feel like it’s maybe just proving themselves a little bit more, you know.
"So, I feel like when you want to be on top and want to be remembered as the world’s best one day, I just feel like it’s necessary to win the Champions League, first of all.
“I feel like that’s a very big one.
I think for Flo, it’s now the first season of Champions League competition with Leverkusen.
“So, I feel like to be there every single year and at least try to compete to get into the semis or the finals, you know and win it at one point is unavoidable to be world-class, one of the best.
