Manchester City have been tipped to agree a shock deal which could change the makeup of their team completely.

It has been a busy transfer window for City, with Pep Guardiola in the midst of a squad rebuild after his side ended last season 13 points behind Premier League title winners Liverpool.

The Manchester side have already seen one high-profile exit this summer, as Kevin De Bruyne’s ten-year stay at the Etihad came to an end.

There could yet be more senior players on the move, with Jack Grealish set to leave, as well as long-serving goalkeeper Ederson.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that the Brazilian shot-stopper won’t be hanging around after Man City brought in James Trafford from Burnley.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Ederson would not be a positive influence if he stayed at the club as a number two, behind Trafford.

The 31-year-old has been linked with a move to Turkish giants Galatasaray, as well as a potential switch to the Saudi Pro League.

Wyness added that Guardiola has made up his mind by bringing in Trafford, and that Ederson will be off this summer.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “On first look, I don’t think it makes much sense to sign Trafford and for Ederson to stay, but then they may not have an alternative for him to go.

But I would think they’d want him away, and I don’t think he’d be that positive of an influence if he’s number two.

“I don’t think he really sees himself as a number two at this stage in his career.

I think he’d want playing time.

“I do think there’ll be a move.

So I don’t expect him to be hanging around.

I think that we’ll see Ederson go at some stage, I’m sure.”

Meanwhile, Man City won’t command an exorbitant fee for James McAtee this summer after Nottingham Forest’s first bid, sources have told Football Insider.

Forest have already seen a £25million offer for McAtee rejected, but sources have told Football Insider that they won’t have to pay over the odds.

£35m will be enough to prize the youngster away from Man City this summer, and McAtee could accelerate a switch to the City Ground by pushing for the move himself.
