Manchester City have been tipped to finalise a statement signing before the transfer window closes.

Pep Guardiola’s side have had a busy summer so far, as they look to challenge the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal for the Premier League title this season.

Man City have brought in Rayan Cherki from Lyon, as well as adding Rayan Ait-Nouri, James Trafford, and Tijjani Reijnders.

On Tuesday (26 August), Football Insider exclusively revealed that City are in the final stages of signing Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that the Manchester side will get the Donnarumma deal done before the deadline.

This article contains exclusive comment from Keith Wyness, former Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen CEO.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that once Ederson completes his prospective move to Galatasaray, then the door will be open for Donnarumma to make the switch to the Etihad.

City signed Trafford from Burnley earlier this summer, so without a sale, the addition of another keeper would leave the club overloaded.

Wyness added that Guardiola’s side currently want £35million for Ederson, and with Galatasaray only offering £10m, there is work needed to close the gap.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “There’s still a bit of a gap between City and Galatasaray in terms of Ederson.

I’m hearing that Galatasaray have offered £10m and City want £35m.

“I think Trafford’s mistake at the weekend has probably even encouraged City further to try and get a deal done for Donnarumma.

I think City will work out a deal with Ederson and with Galatasaray.

It may well be that City have to take a loss on that, but when you’re getting a brilliant replacement that is the quality of Donnarumma, you can say, okay, let’s get it done.”

Meanwhile, Everton are reportedly accelerating a move to sign Man City defender Nathan Ake as they prepare for a busy end to the summer transfer window.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who claims that Guardiola is prepared to cash in on the 30-year-old.

The Man City boss has overseen wide-scale changes to his side over the summer, and is now focusing on selling some of the fringe players to balance the books.

Ake’s ability to play at left-back would allow David Moyes to strengthen another key area of his side while also adding quality strength in depth to his defence.
