Manchester City’s push to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma has been cast into doubt following the latest update on Ederson’s future.
City have already made a major splash at goalkeeper this summer, re-signing James Trafford from Burnley.
The England youth international put in an excellent performance on his debut against Wolves at the weekend, making three saves to the tune of 0.74 goals prevented to preserve a clean sheet (FotMob).
Even so, there are further rumblings at the goalkeeper position at the Etihad Stadium.

Man City have emerged as shock major contenders to sign Donnarumma, who wants out of PSG despite winning the Champions League with them last season.
However, a move for Donnarumma is only possible if Ederson leaves this summer.
The Brazil international — who missed the win against Wolves through illness – is a target for Galatasaray, and former Premier League scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider last week that City plan to accept a bid for Ederson.

However, City’s plans have now been cast into doubt as Sky Sports report (19 August) that Galatasaray have lodged a £17.3m bid for FC Porto’s Diogo Costa.
It’s understood Ederson remains Galatasaray’s priority, but a move for Costa – a 36-time Portugal international – is being pushed in case talks with Man City break down.
German goalkeeper Stefan Ortega is also up for sale after slipping further down the pecking order with Trafford’s arrival.
Football Insider verdict
At 26 years old, Donnarumma still has his best years ahead of him and would be an incredible investment for any club — with Man United also interested.
However, Man City must make their next move carefully.
The Cityzens have already spent £31million to bring Trafford back to the Etihad Stadium this summer (Sky Sports), and the youngster repaid them instantly with a superb showing against Wolves.
Trafford is seen as a future England No.1 and star gloveman, but seeing someone of Donnarumma’s calibre arriving in the same transfer window would surely be demoralising.
It’s not like City would be signing a veteran stopper to help with Trafford’s development; Donnarumma’s prime is still ahead of him, and he could realistically still play at the top level for a decade yet.
That would make you question why City bothered to re-sign Trafford at all — with the youngster absolutely deserving of a starting spot in light of his 29 clean sheets and just 16 goals conceded in the Championship for Burnley last season.
