Manchester City are not prepared to let Rodri leave this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
City are currently in talks with the 29-year-old over a contract extension, with his current deal set to expire in the summer of 2027.
Real Madrid are long-term admirers of Rodri and have been linked with a move for him before the transfer window closes
However, sources say that Los Blancos would not be able to afford the Spaniard, who is likely to remain at the Etihad for the time being.
Rodri is expected to stay at Man City
Rodri spent the majority of last season out injured, after suffering ligament damage in his right knee during City’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal back in September 2024.
The midfielder is not expected to be ready for the upcoming campaign after being hit with another fitness setback, which further reduces the chances of a switch to Real Madrid.
Despite a move away from Man City seeming unlikely in the current transfer window, the Rodri saga could rumble on until next summer.

If the Spain international fails to agree on a contract extension with the Citizens over the next 12 months, then they could be susceptible to an approach for him.
Meanwhile, Man City have been joined by a number of Saudi Pro League and Brazilian clubs in their pursuit of West Ham star Lucas Paqueta.
Clubs in the Middle East are currently believed to be ahead of City in the race to sign the attacking midfielder and are now lining up offers.
This comes after former West Ham scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that City are unlikely to sign Paqueta, having already brought in alternative options.
The arrivals of Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki mean City are well-stocked and have no plans to make further additions there despite the Brazilian’s availability.
