Rasmus Hojlund is edging closer to a move away from Man United in the closing stages of the transfer window, according to their former chief scout.
Mick Brown, who worked at Old Trafford for over a decade during the club’s most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that the 22-year-old is no longer part of Ruben Amorim’s plans.
The striker was left out of the squad for United’s 1-0 opening-day defeat to Arsenal in a clear indication that his time at United is coming to an end.
Brown told Football Insider in May that Man United want to sell Hojlund permanently in an attempt to raise funds for reinvestment in the squad.

However, United are now believed to be open to letting him leave on loan with an option to buy as long as a significant percentage of his wages are covered.
This comes after Football Insider revealed that Man United could miss out on £40million by giving the green light to a loan move to AC Milan.
This article contains exclusive comment from Mick Brown, a football transfer expert and former chief scout for Man United and Sunderland among others.

Brown told Football Insider in March that Hojlund has no future at Man United while Amorim has been left frustrated by his “alarming” lack of progression.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that a deal for his exit is finally edging closer and is likely to be agreed.
“Man United have been looking to sell Hojlund all summer,” he told Football Insider.
“From what I hear, they’ve decided they want to move him on, but they’re now aware they’re not going to get the sort of money they were originally looking for.
“So instead, they’ve decided they want to get him off the wage bill.
“There have been talks over a move to Italy on loan with a view to making the deal permanent.

“They don’t want to leave it open-ended because then he comes back next year and they’ve got the same problem, they want it wrapped up after the loan.
“But for now, clubs are willing to pay most of his wages to take him on loan and then the likelihood is they will sign him at the end of the deal.
“From United’s point of view and the player’s, it’s time to draw a line under it.
“It hasn’t worked out, he hasn’t been good enough.
“He’s an honest lad, and I’ve no doubt he could get better, but he hasn’t shown that at United.
“They’ve got other options in his position, so I expect this deal will be done if and when a new offer comes in for him.”
Hojlund is not the only player being linked with a move away from Old Trafford, as they remain keen to cash in on fringe players to boost Amorim’s kitty.
Football Insider revealed on 17 August that Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho must leave United before they can move for their ambitious targets.

This comes as they have been priced out of a deal for Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba, as the Seagulls are reluctant to see him leave this late in the window.
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 12 August that Man United are working to sign two players, a goalkeeper and a central midfielder, before the deadline.
