Man United or Man City could look to make the most of the breakdown in the relationship between Gianluigi Donnarumma and PSG.
Both Manchester clubs have been exploring alternative goalkeeping options this summer.
Andre Onana has failed to deliver since arriving from Inter in the summer of 2023, while Ederson has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League.

Man City have brought in James Trafford from Burnley, but the dethroned Premier League champions have never been afraid of stocking up on talent in one position.
United, on the other hand, have prioritised addressing other positions of need this summer, but after Donnarumma’s latest development, the pair may be inclined to make a move for the Italian.
Speaking on the Transfers Podcast, Sunday Times journalist Duncan Castles revealed that, following Lucas Chevalier’s arrival in Paris, the ex-AC Milan shot-stopper has decided he wants to see out the last year of his contract in the French capital.

PSG previously offered Donnarumma a contract for less money than what he is on now, but have since signed his replacement.
Castles said (1 August, 42.52mins): “Now that PSG have bought a new goalkeeper, he’s telling Paris that he would prefer to stay at the club, and he will consider leaving the club under freedom of contract in a years’ time, that is the guidance I have.
Ederson may be on his way out of Man City.
The information I have is that they have told Donnarumma that they will not let him run down his deal and leave on a free transfer in the same style he did with Milan.
“The threat they have made to him is if he tries to do that, he will be the reserve goalkeeper.
“Luis Enrique will play Chevalier as his starter and will play him throughout the season.
“I think there is a certain degree of power to that threat.
“Enrique has asked for, and supported the move for Chevalier, because Chevalier is a much better goalkeeper with the ball at his feet.”
Football Insider Verdict
City ideally need to focus their efforts on signing a new right-back this summer, and the timing of Trafford’s arrival makes a move for Donnarumma unlikely.
But for United, this could be the perfect opportunity to level up between the sticks, ending Onana’s miserable stint in Manchester.

However, Onana has been unable to show off his distribution skills, and instead, his subpar shot-stopping abilities have been laid bare.
Donnarumma is far less capable with the ball at his feet, but that matters little for a United side looking to claw their way back up the Premier League pecking order.
A more classical number one may be just what Ruben Amorim needs in Manchester to turn around his ailing project.
