Man United have been hammered as their own worst enemies after repeated issues in the goalkeeping department.
Senne Lammens joined United in a deal worth £18 million as the club continues to grabble with the position, with Andre Onana set to leave Man United on loan.
Football Insider exclusively revealed that Onana had been offered to West Ham United ahead of deadline day, but the Hammers didn’t go through with the move.
Further reports suggested that Onana was the subject of interest from Monaco, before United’s valuation of the player priced the French club out of the move.
Onana is now due to move to Turkish club Trabzonspor for the rest of the season, while the underwhelming Altay Bayindir is expected to fight with Lammens for a starting place.
Both Onana and Bayindir have had torrid starts to United’s 2025/26 campaign and the pair’s errors have accounted for over half of the goals United have conceded this season.

Lammens will join the club under immense pressure to stem the tide of continual goalkeeping errors since David De Gea left the club in 2023.

Speaking on ESPN FC, ex-Scotland international Craig Burley fired shots at Bayindir, saying: “Altay Bayindir, they can’t play him because he might be ok on the odd shot stopping routine, but he’s a goalkeeper that’s what he’s paid for.
“He’s absolutely useless on balls into the box and set pieces, so this new lad that comes in [Lammens] has to be able to communicate, marshal a back four, be good with the ball at his feet, make saves and he has to have an authority and make a statement when teams are whipping balls into the box.
“That’s what every team is going to do now as soon as they get the ball in the box, long throws, corner kicks they’re going to pile it on under this goalkeeper,” he continued.
Burley went on to criticise United’s squad as a whole for not protecting weaknesses in their goalkeepers, saying: “United, as bad as their goalkeepers have been, United haven’t done that with their goalkeepers [protect their weaknesses] they’ve exposed them and been found out.
“So whatever this young lad is uncomfortable with he better get it out quickly in the dressing room and say ‘help me do this’,” he finished.
