Man United supporters reacted in unison after an update regarding centre-back Harry Maguire’s future at the club.
Maguire has endured a mixed spell at Old Trafford in recent years, but enjoyed something of a revival following Ruben Amorim’s arrival last season.
The defender became an important figure in the side, and his resurgence was recognised when Maguire signed a contract extension with Man United in January, to avoid him leaving as a free agent this summer.
Maguire featured 40 times across all competitions last term, scoring four goals and providing one assist in over 2,700 minutes of action, but the side ultimately had a poor season finishing in 15th place.
However, despite his improved form, the latest update on his future from a journalist has caused debate amongst the supporters.

According to Mike Keegan of the Daily Mail, Man United have “rebuffed approaches” from both Premier League and Serie A clubs for Maguire.

Keegan also reported that interested sides were informed Maguire is “likely to extend his contract” and could see out the remainder of his career at Old Trafford.
This follows a Football Insider report in May, in which former United chief scout Mick Brown revealed the Man United were planning to offer Maguire a new deal at the end of the season.
It now appears that talks are progressing over a long-term extension.
The England international joined United from Leicester City in 2019 for a then-record fee of £80 million.
However, it appears that under Amorim, he has rediscovered his form and importance to the squad.

Despite a solid campaign last season, the club’s decision to trigger Maguire’s extension earlier this year has not been universally welcomed.
With just 12 months remaining on his current deal, many had expected United to consider cashing in on the 32-year-old this summer, with Man United fans slamming Amorim’s decision to hand him a new deal in January.
Now, the club are pressing ahead with securing his long-term future, prompting further backlash from sections of the fanbase.
One supporter reacted to the latest news by saying: “Worst decision of the summer” while another simply added: “Joke of a club.”
