Manchester United sealed the Premier League Summer Series trophy on Sunday with a 2-2 draw against Everton in Atlanta, Georgia.

There were flashes of brilliance from United throughout, with the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Amad Diallo, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo showing glimpses of the link-up play that could revolutionise Ruben Amorim‘s side next season.

However, it was someone at the other end of the pitch who caught the eye of supporters.

Leny Yoro endured a mixed bag in his first season at Old Trafford, with injuries stopping him from building any true momentum.

However, the Frenchman — still only 19 years old — has looked very promising in pre-season.

On Sunday, United’s defensive mishaps could’ve been punished even more harshly were it not for a host of vital last-ditch interventions from Yoro — who was a composed and solid presence at the back throughout.

Yoro made a whopping six tackles during his 57 minutes on the pitch, with a slide challenge to deny Everton striker Beto just as he was pulling the trigger the pick of the bunch.

The former Lille won seven of his 11 ground duels, while also making one interception and one clearance.

And on the ball, he was equally composed, completing 90% of his passes, while also completing three of his four passes into the final third (Flashscore).

It was a cruising performance from Yoro that did not go unnoticed by supporters.

While Yoro looks set to hold down the defence next season, United still need more attacking reinforcements — despite already signing Mbeumo and Cunha.

All eyes are now on the race for Benjamin Sesko, with United battling it out against Newcastle for his signature.

And United supporters can take great heart, knowing the Slovenia international wants the move to Old Trafford, and that their club are indeed in pole position to make it happen.

“Man United have made him their number one target,” transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke told Football Insider.

“They are trying to get a deal over the line for him and have made the player an offer, but it won’t be easy dealing with Leipzig as we know.

“We’ve seen Arsenal already this summer not being able to get a deal done for the Slovenia international, but it looks like United are trying everything they can.

“The key for United is that the player wants to move to Old Trafford.

“They will be confident that will give them the edge to win the race for Sesko, who has also been a target for Newcastle due to the ongoing speculation about Alexander Isak.”
