Man United are set to yield in their stand-off to sell Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea as the Blues have finally got the deal they were after.
The Red Devils have been struggling to get rid of the so-called “bomb squad” this summer as several of their unwanted stars take up valuable space in the books.
One of these names is long-term Chelsea target Garnacho, who has had his heart set on a move to west London for much of the transfer window.
Man United were wanting £50million for the Argentinian (The Telegraph), yet Football Insider revealed earlier this month that Chelsea were holding out for Garnacho’s price to drop before making any further offers.
With only a matter of days left to go in what has been a blockbuster transfer window, it looks like the Blues have got what they were waiting for.

After weeks of back and forth, Maresca appears to have nearly got his hands on the winger he was after all summer.
According to The Telegraph (27 August), Chelsea are on the verge of agreeing terms for Garnacho after the Red Devils dropped their asking price, with the deal set to be worth between £35m and £40m, meeting the Blues valuation.

The update in the transfer saga shows that the red half of Manchester are clearly desperate to be rid of the players cast out by Ruben Amorim.
Yet, at 21-years-old, this feels like a steal for Todd Boehly and co.
who likely see a very profitable asset who could be sold further down the line.
However, from the outside looking in, United seem weak and played right into Chelsea’s hand as the transfer window progressed.

Whilst the move to be rid of the Argentina international makes sense given both parties are adamant they both don’t want to be involved in a relationship moving forward, this could be catastrophic for the rest of the “bomb squad” sales.
Clubs involved in deals such as Real Betis with Antony and Napoli with Rasmus Hojlund may take note of the deal done between the two Premier League clubs and switch up their negotiation tactics.
If United are so willing to offload their unwanted stars, then surely it makes sense for both these European clubs to run deals for the Brazilian and the Dane down to the wire to put pressure on the Red Devils to lower their asking prices.

Due to the financial burdens on the red half of Manchester, there is an air of desperation at Old Trafford as they look to operate fast to part with their out-of-favour players.
This is an evident weakness which should be exploited and, although the Garnacho deal is a success for Sir Jim Ratcliffe, he will be extremely aware of the repercussions on the other deals.
