Man United already have a candidate ready to take over from Ruben Amorim, should the Portuguese be sacked at Old Trafford.

Amorim faces the sack at Man United following a poor start to the new campaign, despite being backed in the summer transfer window.

The former Sporting boss currently does not seem to have the answers to problems at the club which are hindering their progress.

Man United have not been afraid to sack managers in recent years, and Amorim could be the next casualty for failing to bring major silverware back to the club.

Man United’s 2-1 win over Chelsea has done little to ease the pressure on Amorim, with the Red Devils still languishing in mid-table.

A 15th placed finish last season, and a failure to secure European football after Spurs beat Man United in the Europa League final, means Amorim does not have time to turn things around on his side.

Eintracht Frankfurt manager Dino Toppmoller has called Man United “an extraordinary club,” and put his name forward to potentially relace Amorim.

As per SportBild, [24 September], Toppmoller said: “Basically, it’s a dream to be at Eintracht now.

“It’s simply a fantastic club.

That naturally creates an emotional bond with a club.

“Thinking about abroad, I often played computer games as a child, always with one team: Manchester United.

That would definitely be nice someday, because it’s an extraordinary club.

“When I was a teenager, Manchester United was, along with Real Madrid, the biggest club of all.“

Toppmoller has led Eintracht Frankfurt into the Champions League this season, and the German club thrashed Galatasaray 5-1 on the opening matchday.

Toppmoller has previously stated that he does not “have a preferred formation,” as per the Bundesliga, though he has used Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 in the past.

That may be a concern to Man United chiefs as the system is currently not working for Amorim, and it will not work under another manager with the same crop of players.

However, Toppmoller has deployed Eintracht Frankfurt in a either a 4-5-1 or a 4-2-3-1 this season.

That adaptability to change formations is currently a hinderance to Amorim right now, and looks set to cost him his job.
