Carlos Baleba’s potential move to Man United from Brighton has seen a number of Red Devils players get in touch with him to convince him to join the Old Trafford club.
Baleba has been a standout for Brighton since he made the move from Lille in 2023, with his impressive stamina and passing range putting him up there with some of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
With a number of attacking arrivals already confirmed, it looks as if Man United boss Ruben Amorim is set to focus on bringing in a midfielder that can mainly plays box-to-box or just in front of the defence, and the Cameroonian international is a priority target.

The Athletic (6 August) initially reported that the Red Devils had made contact with the Seagulls to explore a deal to sign him this summer, but their report also stated that Brighton do not intend to sanction a sale ahead of the new season.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (12 August) that Man United are still working on a deal to sign Baleba, and it looks as if numerous members of Amorim’s squad are also keen on him becoming one of their teammates soon.
According to a new report from The Athletic (12 August), Baleba has been contacted by a number of United players about his possible transfer to Old Trafford, with their existing stars explaining the current landscape and ambitions of the club to the Cameroonian.

Baleba is believed to be keen on the possibility of a switch to United, and personal terms would not be a problem, but it remains to be seen what kind of fee Brighton are set to demand for his services.

Football Insider verdict
Previous reports have stated that the Red Devils recognise that a move for Baleba now may be unrealistic, with “a raft of lucrative sales” needed for them to be able to afford a big-money move for the Cameroonian following the arrivals of Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
The 21-year-old box-to-box midfielder made 40 appearances in all competitions for the Seagulls, and Brighton named Baleba as their Young Player of the Season in May after he won the Premier League’s April Goal of the Month award for a stunning strike against West Ham [Brighton].

It would make little sense to spend a smaller fee on a player who is not going to impact Amorim’s first-team when they can just go big next year on Baleba, and so Sesko’s arrival could well spell the end of the north-west giants’ big summer spending.
Despite a number of Red Devils players getting in touch with the 21-year-old, with international teammates Mbeumo and Andre Onana likely to be the pair leading the contact, his move is still down to Brighton being happy to sell, and they don’t need to let him leave unless a fee that they cannot turn down is offered, which seems unlikely to come from United right now.
