Ruben Amorim has learnt exactly what his Manchester United squad think about him after their victory against Chelsea.

Man United scraped a 2-1 win over Enzo Maresca’s side on Saturday (20 September) evening, in what was a chaotic game at Old Trafford.

Robert Sanchez was sent off in the fifth minute, before Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro gave the Red Devils a 2-0 lead.

However, Casemiro was then given his marching orders just before half time, which left United hanging on in the closing stages of the game after Trevoh Chalobah halved the deficit.

As always when a manager is going through a difficult period, there have been some questioning if Amorim still has the support of his Man United players.

Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer believes the United squad revealed whether they were still behind their manager during their win over Chelsea.

Shearer said: “Amorim is under huge pressure, and I thought his players did really well for him in the second half.

That performance will tell him that his players are still with him.”

It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils can take momentum from their win over Chelsea, as they travel to Brentford on Saturday (27 September).

Man United haven’t won away at the West London side since 2022, but failure to pick up all three points at the weekend would pile the pressure back on Amorim.

Meanwhile, Man United are making preparations behind the scenes in case they decide to sack Amorim, with three Premier League bosses on their shortlist, sources have told Football Insider.

Meanwhile, Man United are also interested in Andoni Iraola, with the Spaniard’s deal also running out at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, sources say that Fulham boss Marco Silva is the third name on the Red Devils’ shortlist alongside Glasner and Iraola.
