Manchester United have been left indebted to rivals Liverpool after negotiating a deal with Barcelona to loan them Marcus Rashford with the view to a permanent move.

However, he didn’t appear to be the first choice for the La Liga giants.
They were also linked with Athletic Club star Nico Williams before he signed a new long-term deal with his club at the start of July.
Those snubs have now inadvertently benefited United, who have been looking to remove Rashford from their books.

Despite not training with the first-team squad, Rashford did report back for pre-season at Carrington on time this month.
