Casemiro has backed Rodrygo to reach the pinnacle of world football, with Liverpool reportedly making progress in discussions with the Real Madrid winger's representatives.

His reduced playing time has sparked speculation about his future, with Arsenal and Liverpool both reportedly monitoring the forward's situation, reports the Mirror.

Earlier this year, Casemiro - who enjoyed nine seasons with Madrid - heaped praise on Mbappe and his former colleagues, including Rodrygo.

Speaking to Diario AS, the Brazilian maintained that while the French star possesses the qualities to become the globe's finest player, the 24-year-old could equally achieve this distinction.

"He [Mbappe] is one of those players that when you play against them you don't know how to stop him.

This kid is one of the most complete players of his generation."

With rumours swirling that Luis Diaz could be set for an Anfield exit amid Bayern Munich's pursuit of the Colombian, fresh reports suggest the Reds are poised to make their move for Rodrygo.

Liverpool are braced for a new bid from Bayern for Diaz after turning down an offer worth £58.6m last week.

However, the club insist that Diaz is still viewed as an important player in Arne Slot's squad.

Whilst no direct approach has been made to Madrid, the winger's favoured destination is understood to be England.
